NOW PLAYING: ‘A WAY FORWARD' BY NATION OF LANGUAGE...

Updated: Jan 13, 2023

I sound like a broken record I know, but this is another album bought after hearing a track on BBC6Music (‘This Fractured Mind’ I think it was).

This album is a thick slice of synth-pop goodness. All the usual suspects can be found under the influences column; OMD, Depeche Mode, Japan, Kraftwerk etc, etc. This isn’t a bad thing by the way, the retro synth sound is right up my straza.

A friend asked me to describe the album and the best I could come up with was to imagine if someone like The War On Drugs released an electronic album after listening all the early New Order albums on repeat. Terrible I know, but best I could come up with!

This is the Rough Trade exclusive album which comes on natty half blue half red vinyl and has a bonus CD of alternative versions of four of the tracks.

I’ve got tickets to see them in town on Friday night, genuinely intrigued to hear the album live, it sounds fantastic on the record.

Tracks To Try: ‘Across That Fine Line’, ‘Wounds Of Love’, ‘The Grey Commute’, ‘This Fractured Mind’, ‘Whatever You Want’.
