Love it when I stumble across a band who turn out to be cracking, this definitely happened with Wrest.
They are a self-financed, unsigned band (I think) from Edinburgh who have produced a very good debut album full of soaring guitars and singing with a pronounced Scottish twang, I love a band who sing in Scottish!
They have been likened to Biffy Clyro (but don’t hold that against them), Frightened Rabbit and The National. The Twilight Sad are in there somewhere, all be it a bit toned down (not a criticism, if you ever get the chance to see The Twilight Sad live you will know there is plenty of scope to dial it down, they are usually at 11!)
They have just announced a new EP and will be touring again next year, get on to them before they blow up.
