ON THIS DAY, 1987...

On 12th June 1987, 'Predator' starring Arnold Schwarzenegger was released.


'Predator' is a science fiction action film directed by John McTiernan. As well as Schwarzenegger it also featured Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura, among others.


The film follows a team of elite commandos who find themselves being hunted by a technologically advanced extraterrestrial creature known as the Predator in a Central American jungle.


The story begins when Dutch (played by Schwarzenegger) and his team, which includes Dillon (Weathers), Mac (Ventura), Blain (Sonny Landham), and others, are tasked with rescuing a cabinet minister held captive by guerrilla forces. However, they soon realize that they are being targeted by an unseen enemy that is stalking them in the jungle.


As the team members are picked off one by one, Dutch deduces that they are facing a highly advanced creature that uses advanced camouflage technology and thermal vision to track and kill its prey. Dutch, armed with his military expertise and survival skills, sets out to defeat the Predator and protect his remaining team members.


The film features intense action sequences, memorable one-liners, and a suspenseful atmosphere as Dutch and the Predator engage in a deadly cat-and-mouse game. The Predator is portrayed as a formidable and intelligent adversary, using its advanced weaponry and physical abilities to challenge Dutch at every turn.


'Predator' became a cult classic and established the Predator as an iconic and fearsome creature in pop culture. It has since spawned sequels, spin-offs, and crossovers with other film franchises. The film's success is attributed to its blend of action, suspense, and sci-fi elements, as well as the charismatic performance by Schwarzenegger.
