Another album bought on the strength of one song getting hammered on BBC6Music.
The song was the title track of LP and is a mad, jazz infused explosion of drums and saxophone. The rest of the album mostly follows this template but it is hard to pigeonhole. It is part jazz, part funk, a bit Glam Rock and has a pinch of punk thrown in there for good measure.
Whatever genre of song they put on the album, it will have big brassy honks liberally sprinkled all over it. It took me a few run throughs to get my head around that but it kinda makes sense now.
To me, this is an album you play loud and experience rather than one to sit and contemplate for hidden meaning. It is definitely a good workout for your system! Pressing is good too.
