NOW PLAYING: 'NOW YEARBOOK '85 BY VARIOUS ARTISTS...

Last Friday I said I needed a break from all those excellent, interesting indie albums I’ve been buying and turned to something familiar, same again this week.

I was 12 when this lot was in the charts, the songs are the soundtrack to early secondary school and listening to something other than Duran Duran (that was my jam at the time).

Like last week, no point reviewing the album, you have heard all the songs a million times before. The record includes some absolute belters:

  • Queen - One Vision

  • A-ha - Take On Me

  • Go West - We Close Our Eyes

  • Stephen Duffy - Kiss Me

  • King - Love & Pride

  • Kate Bush - Cloudbusting

  • The Smiths - How Soon Is Now?

  • The Cure - Close To Me

  • The Cult – She Sells Sanctuary

  • Scritti Politti - The Word Girl

  • Propaganda - Duel

  • Paul Hardcastle – 19

  • Marillion - Kayleigh

  • Bryan Ferry - Slave To Love

  • Pat Benatar - Love Is A Battlefield

  • U2 - The Unforgettable Fire

  • Sting - If You Love Somebody Set Them Free

  • Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Welcome To The Pleasuredome

  • Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World

  • Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)

  • Bronski Beat with Marc Almond - I Feel Love / Johnny Remember Me

  • Simple Minds - Don't You (Forget About Me)

  • Huey Lewis & The News - The Power Of Love

…and many, many more. Like last week, there is some absolute trash on here too but the good far outweighs the bad.

Fancy picking up a slice of 80s pop goodness on fetching emerald green vinyl? It is available everywhere for about £30.
