I seem to make a habit of taking a punt on an album on the strength of one song, this album is no different.
Heard ‘Hopeful’ on BBC6Music and was hooked. A whiff of Michael Kiwanuka with the gospel choir backing, and some cool strings/horns/guitars. That was enough for me!
The rest of the album is good too, a solid mix of soul, pop, funk, soft jazz and rock - sounds like it shouldn’t work but it really does. Worth a listen in my humble opinion.
